Rank our worth
on follows
on likes and comments
that twist our emotions
into an emoji
Our mood rises with the numbers
and falls just as quickly
Sincere connections
risk becoming lost in the crowd of
anonymous opinions and online trolls
And our lives a statistic
all for the wish
to be counted

Follows without comments are like footsteps. It could be a stalker, a mugger or muggle, but certainly nothing magical. You could be going in the same direction — headed for a grocery store — but if a passerby says “I like you hat,” your could tip it or throw it in the air like a discus, or say thank you, but insincerity is not always artful. Although he could be an art dealer (money launderer). But without comments he’s just a statistic (watch out for men baring clip-boards). But don’t mind if he calls you “Susie Q” — that’s a good song: “… I like the way you walk, I like the way you talk, Susie Q…” Thank you for this account count that counts with a poetic meter (is 39.37 inches sort of like giving an inch and taking a yard? I don’t know — I don’t have a yard)
